Temple Grandin, Ph.D is an excellent source of learning about this condition, she has many books out describing not only her own experiences but others as well. It is the first book the Child Neurologist suggested to me when we were faces with the diagnosis/

A 44 year old autistic woman talks in depth about her experience with autism, sensory issues, medication usage, the squeeze machine she invented, etc. A great read as she really takes you along on her journey.

That was one of the best personal stories from some one that suffers from autism that I've ever read. It goes from a very young age through now. Very positive, telling how she over came hardships in dealing with the environment around her to succeed.
